University of North Carolina at PembrokeThe University of North Carolina at Pembroke is a comprehensive university committed to academic excellence in a balanced program of teaching, research, and service. It offers a broad range of degrees and nationally-accredited professional programs at the bachelor's and master's level. Combining the opportunities available at a large university with the personal attention characteristic of a small college, the University provides an intellectually challenging environment created by a faculty dedicated to effective teaching, interaction with students, and scholarship. A Teaching Fellow at UNCP finds a surprisingly unique college environment. UNC Pembroke is as distinctive and different as you are. Our enrollment of about 5,800 students will keep you from becoming just another student on campus. Small class sizes and faculty commitment to students promote faculty/student interaction and allow attention to individual student needs. UNC Pembroke Teaching Fellows Program offers students enrichment opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. We have a combination of academic, leadership, community and social activities that will prepare the very best teachers. As a Teaching Fellow at Pembroke, you will become an integral part of our Teacher Education Program participating in enrichment activities even beyond those of the exemplary program. UNCP Teaching Fellows participate in variety of educational and cultural activities such as, monthly seminars designed to promote your professional and personal growth, the opportunity to work closely with selected faculty mentors, and social activities to provide fun and fellowship. All Teaching Fellows live in a Teaching Fellow community in our newest residence space - Oak Hall. As a Teaching Fellow, you will be provided a laptop computer to use throughout your study at Pembroke, a special orientation for freshmen, monthly education seminars, leadership programs, social events, travel opportunities, and free admission to any event at Givens Performing Arts Center.
