University of North Carolina at Greensboro

At UNCG we give top priority to student learning and success.
Great teachers, early and frequent exposure to the classroom, individual attention, and opportunities such as affordable study abroad make the Teaching Fellows experience at UNCG exceptionally rich and rewarding.

UNCG is the perfect size.
It's large enough to offer the variety of a major university and small enough to care about students as individuals. Students can choose from the teacher licensure programs at all levels: birth-kindergarten; elementary (K-6), middle grades (6-9), secondary (9-12), and the specialty areas (K-12). More specifically, the secondary licensure areas offered include: English, comprehensive science (biology, chemistry, integrated science, and physics), comprehensive social studies (anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, and sociology), Latin, and mathematics. Additionally, the specialty areas generally provide certification for K-12, and they are: American Sign Language, art, dance, foreign language (Spanish and French), hearing impaired, music, physical education, theatre, and special education. Students select from a wide array of extracurricular opportunities, study in one of the best university libraries in the state, use state-of-the-art technology to pursue academic interests, and meet people from around the world either on campus or by studying abroad.

UNCG is a university that embraces the individual.
Teaching Fellows are encouraged to pursue their own paths in the context of a supportive community of learners. Freshman Teaching Fellows have several special activities designed to acquaint them with the University and the Teaching Fellows program. These activities include: a retreat weekend early in the first semester, a mentoring program where freshmen are linked with upper-class Teaching Fellows, early involvement in the classroom setting, and opportunities for leadership development. Because of the structure of the UNCG Teaching Fellows program, the students experience a sense of family, which gives each Fellow the support that is needed while working toward the goal of graduating with teaching licensure.

UNCG is an exceptional educational value in a beautiful place.
Conveniently located to virtually everything the city offers, UNCG's lovely campus prompts students to say, "It just felt right the first time I visited." Stately Georgian-style buildings are set throughout the park-like campus, and brick walks wind through a spectacular display of trees and flowers. Nicely nestled in the heart of Greensboro, students have access to the downtown area, which contains a cultural arts center, the newly built Civil Rights Museum, the city’s baseball stadium, and much more. With a legacy of teacher education for over 100 years, UNCG continues to produce exceptional teachers who work throughout the state of North Carolina and beyond. UNCG students are receiving one of the best educational experiences anywhere in the world at one of the lowest costs.
