Meredith Teaching Fellows are spirited, ambitious young women involved in all aspects of college life. Meredith’s Avenging Angels play Division III Sports, lead clubs and service-learning organizations and hold high leadership roles on campus. Fellows enjoy these unique components at Meredith College:

• International Study and Travel Abroad experiences in Meredith approved programs and countries
• Seminars designed around current topics in education
• Focus on Excellence cultural and social events, including a Ropes Course for Freshmen and a Sophomore Class trip to destinations such as New York, Washington DC, and Nashville, TN
• Two year internships in one of the nation’s leading school systems (Junior and Senior Years)
• Service- learning opportunities
• An Honors Core Curriculum of 15-17 Semester hours including an Honor’s Thesis
• NC Teaching Licensure choices in Birth through Kindergarten, Elementary K-6, Middle Grades 6-9 and Secondary 9-12, and Specialized K-12 Certification in English as a Second Language, French, Spanish, Art, Music, Dance, Theater, Family and Consumer Sciences and Physical Education. In addition to a teaching license, each Meredith Teaching Fellow graduates with a B.A. or B.S. degree in an area of concentration such as math, science, English, Social Studies, Psychology, Child Development, Sociology, Religious and Ethical Studies, Political Science, and so on.

Teaching Fellows receive superior academics at an exceptional value. Meredith offers over 45 majors to compliment teacher licensure to prepare young women for excellence in the classroom. In addition to the $6,500 annual scholarship/loan provided by the State Teaching Fellows Program, Meredith College provides a matching academic grant of a minimum of $6,500 per year. Fellows are responsible for the balance of their fees but may qualify for additional merit awards and financial assistance. The 2010-2011 freshman class award for Teaching Fellows was $24,150 including the Teaching Fellows scholarship, the matching award including the NC Legislative Tuition Grant, other scholarships and grant programs. The cap for our cohort classes is 25 students.
