Established in 1986, the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is the most ambitious teacher recruitment program in the nation.

Senior Orientation Week 2008

Welcome to the world of opportunity and the Big Picture.

As a future classroom teacher, you are destined to become part of departments, schools and school systems. There is no preparation for the culture of schools better than immersion in that culture. And that is precisely what Senior Orientation Week is designed to provide. The week is designed to give you a first-hand look at the total school community. Your time will be spent in a central office with the Superintendent and other management staff, as well as in schools in the district. You will get the feel for the day-to-day operations of a school system from the level of the superintendent to the custodial staff. You will gain an understanding of how the puzzle fits together.

Begin with "Orientation Week" to read essential information about the required experience. Under "System Vacancies" you will find the list of all participating School Systems.  You will register for your experience here.   Under "Forms" you will find the application to send to the School System contact, along with your résumé and a cover letter. "Optional Internships," though beneficial, DO NOT SUBSTITUTE for the Orientation Week experience.

Your application, cover letter, and résumé are due to the system contact on or before January 11, 2008.

DO NOT APPLY TO MORE THAN ONE SYSTEM.

Registration on this site does not guarantee your position! You must follow through by submitting your application and cover letter in order to be considered for participation!

Failure to comply with deadlines may result in not getting the system of your choice. If you are not accepted to the system of your choice, you should apply to other systems that post "System Vacancies" on this website.

PLEASE NOTE: The Senior Orientation Week is a requirement of all Teaching Fellows. There are no exemptions from Senior Orientation because your upcoming graduation prevents a make-up.  If you have questions about the process, contact your Campus Director or Email Gladys Graves at the Teaching Fellows office.
