High School English – Facing Reluctant Readers & Writers
Workshop Number: 49 Presenter: Stephanie Wallace, TF Alumna Description: There are always going to be the students in your classroom that hate reading, and they hate writing. I was lost my first year on how to reach them. I have found the answer! Participants will have the opportunity to share their fears and concerns. I will demonstrate how to make your class fun, interesting, and a learning environment all at the same time. Participants will learn how to make grammar easy, reading fun, vocabulary interesting, and writing a favorite. Recommended for High School English teachers. This workshop will make End of Course Tests and the Writing Test less scary! Not all lecture…materials you can take with you! Curricular Areas: Seondary English Presenter Details: Stephanie Wallace is a Kappa Delta Pi and Teaching Fellows graduate of UNCG, class of 2000. She has been teaching English at East Forsyth High School for ten years. Stephanie is a National Board Certified teacher who is involved in many aspects of education. She serves as the President of the Forsyth Association of Teachers of English and on the Executive Board for the Forsyth Association of Educators. Stephanie was the 2005 North Carolina Association of Educators’ Teaching Excellence award winner and NEA finalist. Last, but by no means least, she is a wife and mother of two.
