This workshop is strongly influenced by the research of Dr. James A. Beane as identified in his book Curriculum Integration: Designing the Core of Democratic Education. Integrated curriculum means
a) Learning themes are drawn from life experiences, which allows students to engage in real-life issues
b) Learning is no longer segregated into subject areas or a collection of facts
c) Broad access to knowledge is provided to all students through learning that is worthwhile and relevant.
Participants will learn how to implement Curriculum Integration and experience a modeled integrated curriculum learning unit.
