Description:
Integrating content standards within the visual arts, K-6.
Not merely using art projects as supplemental to other subjects, but rather – teaching other subjects through the visual arts. Activities will address mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts for K-6 teachers. Involves folding, cutting, painting, gluing, collage, and other basic classroom art supplies. Handouts, make-n-take. 

Fellows may register for this as well as The "Teach" of "Arting" II as projects will not be repeated.

Presenter Details:
Dr. Mark Sidelnick is an Associate professor of art education at UNC-Asheville. He is a former elementary and middle school classroom teacher, K-12 art teacher, and school counselor. Dr. Sidelnick has 25 years experience in K-16 education. He currently lives in Asheville with his wife (an elementary school art teacher) and 2 cats; and shares his backyard with an assortment of black bears, turkeys, coyotes, snakes, koi, woodpeckers and wildflowers.
