Description:
Participants in this workshop will learn the difference between formative and summative assessment, how to create and assess student learning outcomes from the NC SCOS, how to use formative assessment data to inform and modify teaching practices, and how to provide timely, relevant and useful feedback to their students. Participants will learn this information through fun, engaging “classroom-ready” activities that can be applied to any subject and grade.

Presenter Details:
Trish Martin has her B.S. in Secondary Education- Health Science, Education, Biology, her M.S in Curriculum and Instruction and her Ed.S. in Educational Leadership. Trish began her career in education as a middle school teacher in Prince George’s and Charles County, Maryland. She became an elementary and middle school Instructional Specialist where she provided staff development to teachers on classroom assessment, curriculum development, reading and writing across the content areas, curriculum integration, and aligning standards to teaching practices. She is now employed at NC State University’s- Center for Urban Affairs and Community Services as an Education Research and Evaluation Consultant. Trish resides in Fuquay-Varina, NC with her husband, Jack, an elementary school counselor and baseball coach, three baseball playing sons and one horseback riding daughter. In her spare time, she…..has no spare time!
