Keeping Your Cool When You’re Feeling the Heat
Workshop Number: 26 Presenter: Jayme Linton Description: Two of the most difficult challenges for beginning teachers are dealing with discipline and fitting everything into the school day. Student behavior and daily schedule interruptions can easily make any teacher feel frustrated and overwhelmed. This session will provide tools and tips for managing both challenges well. Once you get a handle on managing behavior and maximizing time in your day, you’ll be well on your way to surviving and thriving as a new teacher! Curricular Areas: Elementary, K-6 Presenter Details: Jayme Linton has six years of classroom experience, teaching 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades. She received her B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University and a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from ASU. She taught in Marietta City Schools and Hickory Public Schools, and currently works for Newton-Conover City Schools. Jayme worked as an Instructional Coach at South Newton Elementary for two years, coaching teachers and providing staff development. She is currently working as the Instructional Technology Facilitator and Staff Development Coordinator for NCCS.
