Strategies for Success in a Social Studies EOC Classroom
Workshop Number: 21 Presenter: Arielle Hogarth Sink, TF Alumna Description: This workshop is designed for secondary social studies majors. With all the pressures of federal and state legislation, such as No Child Left Behind and the NC ABC’s, this workshop will give you tips and strategies of how to be successful in a Social Studies EOC classroom when the curricula are large and the semesters are short. You will be provided with some tips on how to rigorously and judiciously traverse the required goals and objectives while creatively engaging students. This workshop weill share pacing, teaching, and encouragement strategies for triumphant success in Social Studies EOC classrooms. Curricular Areas: Secondary History/Social Studies Presenter Details: Arielle Hogarth Sink is a ECU Teaching Fellows Alumna from the entering class of 2001. She has taught U.S. History and Psychology for 5 years at Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane. She is also the co-Senior Advisor, Varsity Cheer Coach, and serves as the Area Representative and Secretary for for ABAE, her local unit for NCAE. Originally from Jacksonville, NC, Arielle enjoys antique shops, reading, and, of course, the beach.
