Description:
Did you know that the North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation requiring public schools to teach character education? With all of the tasks assigned to teachers, there isn’t much time to teach another subject. Come learn how to integrate character education and service learning into your math, language arts, social studies and science lessons. Background information on character education will be highlighted. This workshop will be interactive. Handouts and ready-to-use resources will be provided.

Presenter Details:
Marilynn Chapman is a Teaching Fellow alumna who currently works as a high school counselor in Charlotte, North Carolina. She received a BS degree in Elementary Education from UNC Greensboro and a MS degree in Counselor Education from East Carolina University. She has worked with elementary and high school students for the past seven years and became a National Board Certified Teacher in School Counseling (Childhood through Adolescence) in 2004. Ms. Chapman works with adolescents as a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice. She enjoys reading and traveling in her spare time.
