Middle School Math: It CAN be fun and games!
Workshop Number: 7 Presenter: Kimberly Brown Description: Stuck in the middle? Is math your thing? Despite the naysayers, math doesn’t have to be boring! In this workshop you’ll obtain ideas for making your math classroom a fun place for students to learn. We’ll learn instructional and classroom management strategies that will be useful in your classroom. This workshop will be engaging and will provide you with activities that address all learning styles. This workshop will address content from the NCSCOS for 6th grade math through Algebra I. Curricular Areas: Middle Grades Math Presenter Details: Kim Brown is a North Carolina Teacher Fellows alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte entering class of 1996. She majored in Middle Grades Education, and earned minors in mathematics and general science. To further her knowledge and to prepare herself for the challenges in the educational realm, she pursued Masters of Education degrees from UNCG in Instructional Technology and UNCC in Curriculum and Supervision. Kim is currently employed as a Technology Facilitator in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She has taught various combinations of middle and high school mathematics in CMS. In her free time she enjoys board games and solving logic problems.
