Description:
Participants in this workshop will learn how to choose material that is highly engaging and purposeful so that students become active, critical readers and thinkers with the curriculum. We will explore many resources and practice critical literacy skills with contemporary authors and powerful content. Participants will take away ideas and resources for their own curriculum. Great session for future middle and high school teachers.

Presenter Details:
Roxanne Breland currently works for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as the Title I High School Literacy Coordinator. She has taught High School English in Mecklenburg and Lincoln counties, and has worked for six years with Teaching Fellows as an NCAT alum. She has a BA in English from UNCC and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University.
