Description:
Participants in this workshop will explore the connection between reading, writing, and deep thinking as functions of literacy. Through hands-on learning experiences, we will engage in strategies designed to push students to rigorous
and meaningful learning. Participants will come away with lesson designs for incorporating literacy components in lessons for their own curriculum.

Presenter Details:
Roxanne Breland currently works for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as the Title I High School Literacy Coordinator. She has taught High School English in Mecklenburg and Lincoln counties, and has worked for six years with Teaching Fellows as an NCAT alum. She has a BA in English from UNCC and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University.
