They Call Me "Coach"
Workshop Number: 2 Presenter: Anthony Bailey, TF Alumnus Description: This presentation is intended to help prospective coaches identify their role as a coach in the public schools, and their relationship to the home, community, and academic environments. We will also look into the awareness of a variety of topics in relation to safety, liability, and laws when it comes to facilities, conduct of practices, and competitive events. We will have a round table discussion on establishing policies and procedures on discipline, substance use/abuse, conditioning, conduct of players, grades, response to officials, and team cohesiveness. Curricular Areas: All Presenter Details: Anthony Bailey is a physical education teacher, athletic director, and coach at G. R. Whitfield School in Grimesland, North Carolina. Anthony has also taught 7th and 8th grade math and science. Anthony is a North Carolina Teaching Fellow Alumnus (Entering class of 1994). Anthony has earned is Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science Teacher Preparation and Master of Art in Education in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Physical Education Pedagogy. Anthony has a wide range of teaching experience in physical education from the elementary level to the college level. Anthony has contributed to several journal articles and has presented at state and local conferences and workshops.
