Yoga for Stress Relief
Workshop Number: 30 Presenter: Judi Maloy, Director, The Yoga Gallery Description: Stress related illnesses are on the increase and tend to be experienced by people in all walks of life. Held in our muscles as tension, stress can impact health by diminishing energy and lowering resistance. Using easy to follow yoga postures and breath control, we will help you to reduce the effects of stress and renew vitality. Whether you are a beginner looking to decompress or are an experienced yogi, this class will be enjoyable and provide you with some simple techniques that you can practice on your own. All levels are invited to attend. Curricular Areas: All Special Needs: Please dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat or a large beach towel. Presenter Details: Judi Maloy has been studying yoga for the past 16 years and has served as Director and now Co-Director of the Yoga Gallery since founding it in 2002. Judi is a (RYT) Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher, a Certified Integral Yoga Instructor, and a Certified Mamaste Prenatal Instructor. Her continuing training has been in mainly Iyengar and Anusara Yoga, and her interest in Yoga Therapy has intensified with her studies with Mukunda Styles and Doug Keller. She has combined these teachings and trainings to develop a style that focuses first on opening the heart, followed by proper alignment principles, strength building, increasing flexibility and reducing stress. Currently, Judi is the facilitator of a study funded by the NIH to study the effects of Integral Yoga on Women with Hot Flashes. Judi continues to take workshops whenever possible to increase her knowledge in both the physical and philosophical aspects of yoga.
