2010 Senior Conference

Senior Conference 2010 is Friday, July 16 through Sunday, July 18, 2010. The conference is being held on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC.

Registration on Friday will take place from 12:30 - 2:00 pm. The conference will end on Sunday by 11:15 am.

As teachers enter schools, their need for successful strategies to manage personal and professional concerns so they can best serve their students is paramount. The Senior Conference is designed to provide meaningful experiences with translating theory into practice and to explore current education initiatives and policies. Its purpose is to strengthen the foundation for a successful induction into teaching.

The conference includes a keynote address featuring Mr. Ron Clark, ECU Teaching Fellow alumnus and 2000 Disney National Teacher of the Year and a visit from the 2010 National Teacher of the Year (invited). Fellows will attend workshops related to cross-curricular issues and specific subject areas/grade levels. In addition, Fellows will consider the issues of wellness and stress-management which are vital to the survival of a beginning teacher.

Senior Conference is a time for you to build and reaffirm friendships that will assist and sustain you throughout your career. You will be able to renew cross-campus acquaintances and to interact with outstanding Fellows in the field, veteran teachers who are alumni of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, and other educators and wellness specialists from across the state.

Registration for workshops begins at 9am on Wednesday, April 14 and continues through May 7, 2010. Workshop spaces are limited, so register early to ensure you get the workshops you want.
