Take a risk. Push the envelope of your interests.
The experiences from which you will choose offer you opportunities around the state, nation, and world; in the arts and in the sciences, on rocks and in classrooms. They grant you the opportunity to be both learner and teacher.
Junior Enrichment activities are made possible by a collaborative effort of Teaching Fellows institutions, the NC Teaching Fellows Program and other agencies. These activities are designed as opportunities for you to gain knowledge in areas not usually addressed by your course work and to expand your range of experiences.
Junior Enrichment activities are available during the Spring Break of your sophomore year in college and the months of May through August following your sophomore year. This allows you the flexibility to schedule other summer activities, such as work and summer school. If you are considering employment, including that as a residential advisor or other contracted employee at a college or university for the summer of 2009, you will need to select an activity that does not conflict with your training or your employment.
A full description of each activity is given in the Junior Enrichment Index. Read each activity description you are interested in carefully before registering. If a session you wish to choose is full, you must make another choice. You may contact Melissa Rains to sign up on a waiting list in case a slot becomes available but you must register for another option in the event that an opening does not occur. Do not directly contact a vendor about additional openings unless otherwise specified in the description!
You are required to attend one of the Junior Enrichment options unless you are granted an exemption. (See 2009 Junior Enrichment Guidelines). A request for exemption must be sent to Melissa Rains by March 13, 2009. There are no substitutions allowed for Junior Enrichment. You may only request an exemption for delay.
Embrace the ethos of exploration. Challenge yourself.
