Over the past decade, North Carolina has grown to become one of the most diverse states in the country. Junior Conference focuses on providing experiences that will help Fellows continue to enhance their awareness of diversity, develop skills they can use to effectively teach a diverse student population, and create opportunities for them to talk with each other about topics relating to diversity.
The conference includes keynote addresses featuring Ms. Emily Ballance, professional speaker and Licensed Professional Counselor and Mr. Brad Cohen, author and inspirational educator. Fellows will attend workshops related to cross-curricular issues. In addition workshops are geared towards practical, hands-on guidance that will increase their knowledge and awareness about and sensitivity to various issues of diversity.
Junior Conference is a time for you to build and reaffirm friendships that will assist and sustain you throughout your career. You will be able to renew cross-campus acquaintances and to interact with outstanding Fellows in the field, veteran teachers who are alumni of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching, and other educators and professionals from across the state.
Registration for workshops begins at 9am on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 and continues through May 8, 2012. Workshop spaces are limited, so register early to ensure you get the workshops you want.
