The Discovery Trip 2012
Discovery 2012 will begin Sunday, May 13, 2012 on the campus of East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and will conclude on Friday, May 18, 2012 about 11am on the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Because the trip is beginning in a very eastern part of our state, we have made arrangements to charter a bus for Sunday, May 13 to help alleviate some of the travel for those that live in the western parts of our state. This charter will meet students on Sunday, May 13 at the Four Seasons Mall in Greensboro and will drop them at ECU in Greenville. We are still determining the details of this effort, so please check back in April for more information.
All information will be updated closer to April. Missing details will be filled in as we get the information.
Please read "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Discovery" for specific information about check-in at ECU and details about the trip. You must read all information provided prior to registering for the trip. Please note that Fellows are responsible for transporatation to the starting point at ECU (unless they choose the charter options mentioned above). In addition, you will choose a location to be dropped-off at the end of the trip on Friday, May 18 when you register.
REGISTRATION: DETAILS TO COME
This six-day adventure offers opportunities for an exciting experience designed to introduce you to the state of North Carolina, its history and culture, its school systems, its economy and its regional differences and beauty.
Bus Facilitators and Student Leaders (some of your classmates) will spend 1-1/2 days at getting ready for this trip and they are excited about sharing this experience with you. These outstanding educators and Teaching Fellows will share their knowledge of the teaching profession and their thoughts on current educational issues. Your experiences will provide opportunities for many different kinds of learning.
The summer component of the Program is a part of your commitment. We encourage you to look at this experience not as a requirement but as an opportunity to become a better-prepared member of a school community.
Discovery is a required experience as stated in your promissory note. Failure to register for and/or complete this experience will place your scholarship in jeopardy.
